About FAnI Days

The FAnI Days include three events: a workshop, a congress and a seminar.

CTPigClas, the 3rd workshop on CT in pig carcass classification, follows the 2008 workshop in Denmark and the 2009 workshop in Spain. It aims to discuss the present issues in order to formalize a draft of an EU procedure for using CT, especially as a reference. The national experts in pig classification are invited to present the use of the CT in their country and to argue their choices. Afterwards, thematic synthesis will be performed and a consensus will be looked for an EU procedure through discussions.

The FAnI Congress places oneself in the continuity of the successful 2009 edition in which a half day was dedicated to CT applications in live animals and meat technology. The 2010 edition keeps the framework of the different species of farm animals (beef, pig, poultry, sheep, …) combined with the following stages: live, carcass and meat. Furthermore, the FAnI Congress covers the different imaging modalities, in particular CT and MRI. This will contribute to exchange experiences between species, imaging modalities and expertise fields. Oral presentations will be followed by questions. Please see communication call to contribute.

The Virtual FAn seminar aims to gather people motivated by developing virtual farm animals. Some applications of virtual animals concern body and carcass composition, growth, biomedicine. Following the last attempts to propose a COST action it seems suited to get some inputs on the present EU calls and to discuss how to build a proposal.
