In France, four cases of porcine epidemic darrhea (PED) were delected from 2014 to 2017, caused by moderate pathogenic "S-InDel", PEDV strians. PED is notifiable in France and no case caused by "S-non-InDel" PEDV strains that are highly pathogenic have been reported to date.

A national serological survey was implemented in 2018 to assess the PEDV/prevalence in order to evaluate if PEDV strains have been circulating without evidence of clinical signs on animals in herds.
